Discover how we renovated this pond into a pondless waterfall in Des Moines, Iowa

About This Project

This project involved transforming a client’s failing pond into a pondless waterfall that they can actually enjoy. Located in Des Moines, Iowa, this Master Gardener had a small pond that was overrun with algae and was not up to the standards of the rest of the yard. They decided it was time to give the space new life by removing the pond and replacing it with a small pondless waterfall that compliments the surrounding landscape.

  • Project Type: Pondless Waterfall
  • Location: Des Moines, Iowa
  • Client Request: The client wanted a low-maintenance water feature to replace the failed pond in their backyard and create a peaceful retreat.

The Challenge/ What Made This Unique

The client wanted the soothing sound of running water without the maintenance demands of a full pond. Additionally, the yard had tight access, requiring the team to leave the machines behind and renovate the feature by hand.

Our Solution

Our team removed the pond which proved to be a maintenance nightmare and created a pondless waterfall that requires minimal maintenance while also adding beautiful sights and sounds for the homeowners to take in while out enjoying their garden.

  • Design Approach: “We designed a pondless waterfall that seamlessly integrates with the features of the garden, using carefully selected rocks that will compliment the homeowner’s Master Gardening skills..”
  • Implementation: “The waterfall was constructed with a recirculating pump system to minimize maintenance and ensure a continuous flow of water, creating the perfect peaceful ambiance for the homeowners and the birds that visit their garden.”
