Pond lit with red and teal underwater lights next to a fire pit at night

Pond lighting from Just Add Water costs about $1,700 for a 3-light pond system and $3,300 for a 6-light system. For a pondless waterfall or stream, three lights run about $1,500 and six lights about $2,800. Every package includes professional installation and a 5-year manufacturer warranty on the fixtures.

Here is what each package lights up, what changes the price, and how lighting works on a pond you already have.

Pond lighting prices

Package What it lights Average price
Pond, 3 lights Three LED fixtures for a pond and waterfall $1,700
Pond, 6 lights Six LED fixtures for the pond, waterfall and surrounding stone or plants $3,300
Pondless, 3 lights Three LED fixtures for a pondless waterfall or stream $1,500
Pondless, 6 lights Six LED fixtures for the falls, stream and nearby landscape $2,800

What gets lit

Good lighting starts with the water. We place underwater lights at the base of waterfalls so the falling water glows, tuck fixtures along streams and spillways to trace the path of the water, and set lights below the surface so the pond reads clearly after dark. Every fixture is aimed and hidden so you see the effect, not the light.

A 6-light package goes past the water. Adjustable spotlights wash across character boulders. Up-lighting brings out trees, grasses and plants. Low path lights guide guests from the patio to the water's edge.

Three lights or six?

Three lights suit a small pond, a single waterfall or a short pondless stream. They light the part of the feature you look at most.

Six lights suit a pond you see from several spots, a long stream, or a yard where you want the stone and plants lit too.

Not sure? Tell us where you sit at night, and we will plan the lights around that view.

Why LED

  • Low running cost. LED fixtures use a fraction of the power of older halogen lights.
  • Long life. They last much longer, so you replace far fewer bulbs.
  • Safe around water. The Aquascape fixtures we install run on low voltage and are permanently sealed and watertight.
  • Built for Iowa weather. Die-cast metal housings with a durable coating hold up fully submerged or in the landscape, through every season.
  • Smart control. Color-changing fixtures and smart controls let you set the mood from your phone and put the scene on a schedule.

Adding lights to the pond you have

You do not need a new pond to enjoy it after dark. We add lighting to existing ponds, pondless waterfalls and fountains all the time, including features we did not build. On a site visit we look at how the feature is laid out, where power is available and which spots will have the biggest impact. Then we tuck the fixtures in among the rocks and plants so they practically disappear during the day.

If your pond needs a little attention first, we handle cleanouts and repairs too.

What customers say

"Added lights and it is now our absolute favorite sitting place." That is Wayne Schellhammer, after we rebuilt the waterfalls on his pond and added lighting. Read more on our reviews page.
