About This Project

This project involved cleaning a pond and bringing it back to its former glory after not being cleaned in over 10 years. Located in Des Moines, Iowa, this client was ready to give his fish a clean home and be able to enjoy this pond that he used to love once again.

The Challenge/ What Made This Unique

What made this project so challenging is usually we encourage cleaning your water feature once or twice a year, but this one has gone 10 years without any maintenance. This led to leaves and debris from the surrounding trees to drop in the pond and decay creating a large layer of leaves and sludge that was not healthy for the ecosystem.

Our Solution

To bring this pond back to life, our team had to haul bucket after bucket of sludge and debris out of this pond to be usable once again. Once we got the bulk of the debris removed, we then moved on to our normal cleaning and preventative maintenance processes to make this pond a true ecosystem the customer can be proud of a space he can enjoy spending time at.

Design Approach: “We needed to remove all the excess debris built up over the past decade and make sure all the equipment is working properly to ensure this pond is running smoothly once we are done.”
Implementation: “Our crew drained the pond, removed the sludge and debris by hand then proceeded to perform our exploratory cleaning services to make this pond the true centerpiece it was designed to be in this space. We also added aquatic plants to match the aesthetic of the garden which also assists in making this pond a true ecosystem.”

Products Used

We used our typical maintenance supplies including cleanout tubs, cleanout pumps, buckets, scrubbers, cleaning nets, etc to bring this pond back to its former glory.

Customer Response:

The customer was shocked at the transformation our team was able to make on his pond. He is very excited to be able to relax in his gazebo that sits over the pond while watching his fish swim around. Before, the water was too dark to see them, but now he can enjoy seeing the beautifully colored fish swimming around enjoying their clean home.
